Sheltering Stones – Acinipo and Setenil de las Bodegas
The remains of the ancient Roman settlement of Acinipo offer the visitor an exciting impression of the Roman episode of the area’s rich culture and history. The city, sometimes (wrongly) called ‘Old Ronda’, had been created for retired Roman soldiers.
We continue our trip in northern direction, heading to Setenil de las Bodegas. This picturesque white village is set along a narrow river gorge, famous for its cave-dwellings, built in the rock wall of the gorge. It also offers an enjoyable experience for the lovers of gastronomy, as it is quite well-known for its local produced chorizo and its great traditional restaurants.
After leaving Setenil, we take a small road to the village of El Gastor, to enjoy the amazing view over the valley, and to have a nice stroll in this charming white village.
